What is the greatest number in the list?
On paper this is adding five expressions, dividing by five, setting that equal to 23, solving for x, and then plugging back in — and the answer is not even x. In Desmos, type the list with the x left in, then type mean(L) = 23. That is an equation in one variable, so Desmos draws it as a vertical line at x = 10. The greatest number is 4x − 1, which is 4(10) − 1 = 39.
